FitnessFam
Text-first coaching · local crews

The workout is easier when someone texts you first.

FitnessFam is a coach in your messages — and the reason you actually show up to the Saturday 5k instead of promising you will.

Most apps want another hour of your attention. This one meets you where you already are: your phone.

You text what you ate. You text that you ran. Sometimes you just text “I’m fried.” The coach answers like a person who has your numbers in front of them — macros, steps, the fact that you skipped breakfast — not a feed of generic tips. Then, a few evenings a week, it might mention that the Mission 5k is Saturday at 9, because staying home is the default and a specific place to be is not.

Fitness is social. The calendar should be too.

Neighborhood groups, friend lists, and real events — runs, rides, yoga, races — near the city you actually live in. RSVP in the app. Your coach can bring one up during a check-in if it fits the week you’re having.

The virtual coach isn’t a chatbot with a clipboard.

Every evening (you pick the time) you get a check-in. If you’ve logged, it talks about the day you actually had. If you haven’t, it nags — briefly. About a third of those check-ins, if there’s something nearby that matches how you train, it names it. Not a blast to the whole city. One event, one clause, skippable.

Ask it what to do tomorrow and it can do the same: a workout you can finish, or “there’s a hike in the Berkeley hills Saturday if you’d rather not stare at a rack.” You RSVP in the app. Friends going show up on the event. That’s the whole loop.

Coach
Alex, 1,840 left and you’ve barely moved. Mission 5k Taco Run is Saturday at 9 — want me to hold you to it?
yeah put it on my list
Coach
Done. Eat something with protein before. I’ll check in tomorrow.

How people actually use it

  1. Text the number

Meals, workouts, photos of plates, “what should I do with 40 minutes.” Works on any phone. The app is the dashboard, not a prerequisite.

  2. Keep a city on file

That’s how groups and events get sorted. No live tracking. Just “I live in Oakland” so we don’t recommend a Marina sunrise you can’t make.

  3. Show up with someone

RSVP, see who’s going, add the ones who train near you. The coach’s job is to make skipping feel slightly harder.
